I’m feeling whimsical today, so in the hopes of stirring up some weekend blog shenanigans, I’ve decided to create a mini author challenge!
The rules are simple:
1. Copy and paste the questions into a blog post.
2. Answer the questions.
3. Leave a link to your post in the comments section below!
Bonus! You don’t have to be an indie author to do this challenge. All writerly types are welcome!

1. Are you a country mouse or a city mouse?
I am 110% a country mouse. For me, there’s nothing better than chirping birds, wind chimes, and a night sky full of stars!
2. Where do you like to write?
My favorite place to write is in bed. Unfortunately, my husband goes to sleep at 9:00 p.m., and that’s usually when I start writing. So, in recent years, the couch has become my writing nest. (I have psychedelic bird pillows, so it’s a legit nest.)
3. What’s your favorite writing snack?
A cup of Twinings Earl Grey tea . . . and lately I’ve really been digging homemade apple chips.
4. Do you like music or silence?
Silence. All of the silence. I wear lawnmower earmuffs when I write.
5. What’s your favorite procrastination technique?
What isn’t? But generally speaking, I like to quilt when I’m avoiding my characters.
6. What does your desk look like?
I have an amazing desk. It’s glass, so it doesn’t take up any visual space in the room. (Or at least that would be the case if I didn’t cover it with papers, empty coffee cups, and sewing scraps.)
7. How do you arrange your bookshelves?

Don’t hate me, but rainbows. I was doing rainbows before it was cool! (*coughs*) I’m not going to lie, there are two reasons for it. The first is that I straight up don’t remember the authors or titles of books. I only know them by their covers. (That is such a terrible thing to admit.) So, it’s just easier for me to find them if they’re sorted by color. The second reason is that we have a tiny little cottage/apartment, so it just helps the room look less claustrophobic.
8. What inspired you to go indie?
Two things: First, my book doesn’t exactly fall into the commercial fiction category. And second, whether or not it pays the bills, I can’t seem to stop writing, so I figured I might as well let other people enjoy the crazy stuff going on in my head.
9. How do you feel about book dedications?
Honestly, I’m not that into them. Maybe it’s because I write about dystopian prostitutes, but dedicating my book to someone just feels like a very, very unnecessarily awkward conversation. But I absolutely love a good acknowledgements section! It takes a lot of people to get a book off the ground, and it’s important to show your gratitude for peoples’ hard work and dedication.
10. What kind of monster would you most like to be?
If I had to be a monster, I would want to be some kind of skin-walker. I mean, sure, fangs, claws, and a furry coat would be a rip-roaring good time (haha, get it?) but I would miss being human. Maybe I could be a were-care-bear.
I finally posted my answers 🙂 https://aspasiasbissas.com/2020/02/29/challenge-accepted-10-questions-for-indie-authors/ Thanks for giving me something to ponder!
